Jake Smith Embraces Social Media, Gives Single
JAKE SMITH GIVES FANS ANOTHER TASTE OF HIS SEPT. 14TH RELEASE WITH FREE DOWNLOAD
CD RELEASE SHOW SET FOR SEPTEMBER 10TH IN NEW ORLEANS
NASHVILLE, TN…August 12, 2010….Nearing one month until the release of his independent release “Everyone Comes From Somewhere,” NOLA native Jake Smith is whetting the appetite for new music by giving away another song from his upcoming album. Fans can get “You Had Me” from the September 14th release at NoiseTrade.com ( http://www.noisetrade.com/jakesmithmusic).
“There have been points in my past that I have compromised who I am for who someone wants me to be,” shares Jake of free track. “‘You Had Me’ is a song about the failures of the past leading to the realization that those moments weren’t really me – that those relationships whether personally or in business didn’t last because they were trying to make me something that I’m not. While those people have long gone, I am continuing to build my career and relationships on things that last.”
Understanding the state of music industry today, Smith recognizes sharing music as an avenue to interact with fans as well as gain new listeners by word of mouth via Facebook and Twitter.
“Social media shortens the void between a musician on stage and the fans in the crowd. I enjoy meeting the people who enjoy my music, and engaging with them outside of a concert setting. More than just a quick encounter, I genuinely enjoy the freedom of being independent. Especially when it comes to building relationships with my fan base.”
Jake Smith will also be performing in Baton Rouge opening for G Love next Thursday, August 19th. In addition, Smith will be hosting a CD Release party on September 10th in his hometown of New Orleans (details below).
